About SoapstoneAbout SoapstoneAbout Soapstone
Soapstone is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of talc, giving it a distinctively silky, smooth texture that is unlike any other countertop material. Despite its soft feel, soapstone is remarkably resilient — it is non-porous, completely impervious to staining, and resistant to heat, acids, and bacteria without any sealing whatsoever. Its dark grey-green color deepens and develops a beautiful patina over time when oiled, or maintains a lighter, matte appearance when left natural. Soapstone has been used for centuries in laboratories, apothecaries, and farmhouse kitchens precisely because of its chemical inertness and easy maintenance.
